1.Scope
1.1This test method covers procedures for dctermining thcweight [mass] of coating on iron or steel sheet, wire,and otherarticles in which the coating is zinc or a zinc alloy. such aszinc-5 %aluminum (includingzinc-5%aluminum-mischmctal and zinc-5 % aluminum-0.l % magncsium), zinc-aluminum-magnesium (including zinc-5 to g %aluminum-magnesium and zinc-g to 13 % aluminum-magnesiumy or 55 %eoaluminum-zinc. In the body of this test mcthod,reference tozinc coating shall be interpreted to also include zinc alloycoating except where specifically stated otherwise.
1.2 Units—The final results determined by this test methodshall be expressed in inch-pound units or si units, dependingon the units used in thc material specification to which thcresults are to be compared.Certain portions of the procedureinvolving determination of specimen weight [mass] havetraditionally been performed in Sl units.and correspondinginch-pound units are not included.
1.3 For sheet products，the final results are expressed aseither coating weight [mass] total both sides, or coating weight[mass] separately on each side，depending on the speciniedrequirements.
